'Absolutely beautiful' - Ally McCoist wowed as 'Sensational' Rangers star stuns v Lyon

Ally McCoist was amazed by Nedim Bajrami’s close-ball control as Rangers lost 4-1 to Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday (3 October).

Starting on the left flank, the new signing caused havoc for the Lyon defence, getting the whole of Ibrox on their feet with a “sensational” piece of skill before the Gers fell to defeat.

The 25-year-old has had limited time to bed himself into Philippe Clement’s squad, but he already looks to have found his spot in the starting XI.

Speaking live via TNT Sports on Thursday (3 October, 8:26pm), McCoist said: “That’s sensational. That’s fantastic. To catch it with his right foot, then in the same move with his left foot to take it with him, that’s beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

“I still think there’s improvement in him, but from what we’ve seen so far, there’s definitely a player in him.”

Nedim Bajrami becoming key Rangers star after Lyon display

Clement’s squad has been crying out for a playmaker, adding to the forward line of Cyriel Dessers, Tom Lawrence, Ross McCausland and Vaclav Cerny, and that player has been found.

While he has only made two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership, the 25-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or on either flank, has been starring in other competitions.

He notched back-to-back goal contributions against Dundee and Malmo in the League Cup and Europa League, already becoming a favourite amongst the fans at Ibrox.

While he was only able to grab 10 goals and eight assists in his three campaigns in Serie A, Bajrami has the potential to make the Scottish Premiership his playground, especially with the tricks he pulled off against Lyon.

His Europa League display is just more evidence that Clement needs to be starting the Albanian international in every single game, whether he has had enough time to work with the team or not.

In other Rangers news, a pundit issued an apology after he “got it massively wrong” on the Light Blues.
