Everton are seen as the “perfect destination” for Tim Iroegbunam to achieve his goal of more regular first-team football, the Daily Mail reports.

According to the paper on their website (18 June) the Aston Villa midfielder is subject to talks between the clubs over a “relatively cheap” deal worth around £10million.

The 20-year-old wants to feature more after only making 15 appearances under Unai Emery last term, and with the Toffees keen on signing him it is seen as the ideal solution for the English youngster.

Perhaps unsurprisingly therefore The Athletic have reported that agreeing personal terms is expected to be no issue.

Amadou Onana meanwhile is seen as “increasingly” likely to leave Goodison Park with the club expected to “cash in for big money” thanks to there being multiple clubs circling, although nothing is advanced as yet with Arsenal.

Amadou Onana expected to leave Everton amid strong interest

Since Onana, 21, wasn’t a guaranteed starter for Sean Dyche by the end of last season it wouldn’t necessarily mean that Iroegbunam would walk straight into the line up.

But assuming the Belgian star does leave for a substantial fee it would certainly clear the way a decent amount for any new midfielder arriving to feature.

Andre Gomes’ exit at the end of his contract has thinned out the options even further, leaving Idrissa Gana Gueye, who was unexpectedly crucial late in the campaign but will turn 35 early next season, and James Garner as the presumed regular starters, while Abdoulaye Doucouré could drop back.

Amadou Onana is a prime candidate to leave Everton this summer.

So there is clear logic to Iroegbunam’s hopes for more Premier League involvement on Merseyside, even if it would be quite a substantial show of faith in him to step up after just two starts from a total of 12 games in the top flight so far.

At the same time he does have a full season in the Championship at QPR, and Garner only had two substitute appearances in the Premier League to go with his extensive experience in the second tier when he arrived from Manchester United two years ago.

Selling one player high and signing a new one low carries with it an element of risk but it looks like Dyche thinks it is one worth taking and so does Iroegbunam.
