Agent ready to use his own money to force through Rangers exit for his player - report

The agent of Ianis Hagi is reportedly set to be willing to pay his own money to find the Rangers man a new club, according to Adevarul.

Amir Kiarash shared in the Romanian publication [9 July] that Hagi’s representative Ioan Becali has vowed to be open to shelling out from his own pocket to seal a new start and an Ibrox exit for Hagi, who was the last remaining Scottish Premiership player standing at Euro 2024 with his nation.

Hagi, whose contract runs until 2026, spent last season on loan at Alaves where he played under 800 minutes of league football amid injury struggles.

The article states: “The player has now returned [to Rangers] but not for long, as the agents Victor and Ioan Becali are looking for a team for him.

“That is exactly why, recently, Ioan Becali said that he is willing to give money from his pocket, just to find a team for Ianis Hagi.”

Hagi exit from Rangers edging closer

After an underwhelming time in Spain, Becali has made his bold declaration of Hagi that he would be willing to pay the midfielder’s way out of Rangers.

This would be based on whether Hagi figures as part of Philippe Clement’s plans, as was not the case under Michael Beale.

Maybe the 25-year-old sees this pre-season as a clean slate in Glasgow, but the likeliest outcome is that a new club is found for a player who clearly has talent, but has long been unsettled with fitness and a footballing home.

Ianis Hagi
Ianis Hagi is expected to leave Rangers after starring at Euro 2024

A clutch of experienced servants such as Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe and John Lundstram have departed Rangers, with young recruits brought in to replace them which gives a notion of what Nils Koppen is trying to build as he heads up the recruitment department.

Hagi’s age profile puts him in the “in-between” camp, but there appears to be no sign of a contract extension for the Romanian and it looks to be beneficial to all parties for him to regain his edge elsewhere.

In other Rangers news, a medical is set for another departing player.
