Ally McCoist has called for “Massive” changes at Rangers after the resignation of John Bennett.

Speaking on TalkSPORT (17 September, 6:10am), the Ibrox legend admitted he was very concerned with developments at Ibrox, with Dave King throwing his name in the hat to return.

With no chief executive or chairman in place, McCoist admitted that change was needed to bridge the widening gap to Celtic in Glasgow.

“There’s no chief exec, there’s no chairman, at this moment in time, it’s not good. A lot of Rangers fans, including myself, are very, very concerned,” he said.

“I just think, I’ll be brutally honest, there’s change needed, change required – I mean, of course, I’m stating the obvious.

“If you’ve not got a chief executive, you’ve not got a chairman, there’s massive changes needed.

“You look at right now, the Old Firm games, let’s be honest about it – the gap, just now, is very, very large.”

Who will prove to be the saviour for Rangers?

While King may have put himself forward to replace Bennett, key investors at Ibrox are now rallying around to pick things up themselves [Chris Jack].

However, given the rudderless nature of the club’s leadership in recent times, what the Light Blues need more than ever is a steady hand on the tiller to steer them through choppy waters.

Hopes and dreams of multi-million investment from the US or Middle East have been rubbished by King himself [The Rangers Review, 27 August], and thus internal help seems the most likely at Ibrox.

With both a CEO and academy director still to be appointed in the wake of James Bisgrove and Zeb Jacobs’ respective resignations, the to-do list for any incoming chairman is becoming longer by the day.

For now, though, the uncertainty hanging over Ibrox looks set to continue regardless of what Philippe Clement’s side do on the pitch – providing an unwelcome distraction from their bid to catch up to Celtic.
