Rangers want to finalise the appointment of their new CEO before Christmas, according to Chris Jack.
Writing in the Rangers Review on 10 October, Jack admits that due to the likely candidate potentially having a notice period in his current job, the date could be pushed into 2025.
John Gilligan stepped in to be interim chairman after John Bennett stepped down and a move to appoint Jim Gillespie did not pan out.
Jack wrote: “A CEO appointment before Christmas remains the ambition at Ibrox. A demanding, perhaps disillusioned, support want everything to be done yesterday right now. That is unrealistic, though, and the agency appointed to oversee the CEO continue to work through the process as quickly as possible.
“The likelihood that the preferred candidate has a notice period to serve could push a start date into the New Year.”
Rangers have time to wait for the right candidate
With Gilligan serving as interim chairman, there’s a semblance of continuity and leadership at Ibrox, mitigating the urgency for an immediate permanent appointment.
This interim period allows the club to thoroughly vet candidates, ensuring the new CEO aligns perfectly with their vision for the future.
The process, handled by an agency, underscores a commitment to finding the right fit rather than the quickest one, which is crucial for long-term stability and success.
While fans demand immediate action, this thoughtful approach to recruitment, especially for such a pivotal role, is prudent.
It acknowledges the complexities of executive transitions in football, where the right leadership can significantly impact club performance and strategy over years, not just seasons.
The process is ongoing and hopefully, this can be an appointment that helps the Ibrox outfit return to the summit of Scottish football.
