Andy Gray mocks Richard Keys over what he said about Rangers and Celtic

Andy Gray couldn’t help but mock Richard Keys live on beIN Sports for his past claims on Rangers and Celtic.

The former Gers forward is known for getting into fiery debates with his co-presenter live on air, but this time, Gray will have the last laugh.

While Rangers will face Ross County in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday [8 December], the Glaswegian outfit came up in discussion live on beIN Sports [7 December, 12:41pm] as Gray mocked Keys for switching allegiances between the Light Blues and Celtic over the years.

Keys said: “When [Gordon] Strachan took over at Celtic, I had to become a Celtic fan.”

Gray replied: “So then when Strach left, when Strach left, he said to me, ‘I’m back with Rangers now’ I said we don’t want you, we’re not having you back.”

Keys’ comments are enough to bring any self-respecting football fan to their knees, never mind the Rangers and Celtic supporters who will feel sick due to his revelation.

Although Celtic are running away with the Scottish Premiership this year and have been better than Rangers both on and off the pitch, not one supporter would even allow the thought to cross their mind of switching allegiance to the other side of Glasgow.

The Light Blues have been a mess this year; that is an undeniable fact, but the bond between a supporter and their football club is sacred, and Keys is tarnishing everything that makes the sport special with his short-sighted views.

His comments are the latest in a long line of the presenter’s opinions that should warn fans to take his words with a pinch of salt.

While the Gers’ league prospects are essentially dead and buried for the rest of the season, there is still plenty of room for optimism at Ibrox.

The 4-1 win against Nice in the Europa League leaves Philippe Clement in a fantastic position to secure qualification to the knockout stages of the competition, not to mention that the support at Ibrox has been as unwavering as ever despite the circumstances – money can’t buy loyalty.

Don’t want him back? That assumes Rangers supporters would even accept Keys as their own – they wouldn’t.
