Aston Villa fans have been left fuming after Ollie Watkins saw his goal v Young Boys in the Champions League disallowed by a “horrific” decision.
Unai Emery’s side took home all three points from their opening Champions League clash thanks to goals from Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana.
The English side were on top throughout and could have scored more but for refereeing interventions when both Watkins and Jhon Duran found the net.
Watkins was denied his first goal in Europe’s premier competition after VAR official Willy Delajod saw a handball in the buildup.
Having seen replays of the incident, Villa fans were left incensed as the ball appeared to strike the 28-year-old on the chest before he fired home.
Despite the ultimate comfortable scoreline, fans believe they were “robbed” by the officials on their return to European football.
