BBC Sport pundit gushes over Rangers ace after what he did in first half v Dundee

Cyriel Dessers has been lauded by Ian Murray after he opened the scoring for Rangers against Dundee on 21 September.

The Nigeria international’s initial shot was saved but then he capitalised on the rebound to open the scoring for Philippe Clement’s side.

Gers have gone into the break with a one-goal lead over their SPFL rivals.

Murray told BBC Sportsound on 21 September at 17:54: “The goal comes just as Rangers are starting to put the pressure on. It’s the first time they’ve put any quality into the box.

“Like all good strikers, Dessers is ready for the second phase cross.

“It’s merited on the balance of play.”

Rangers must look to add to their lead in the second half

Gers have shown plenty of promise in the first half and the goal from Dessers was something that was inevitable rather than a surprise.

The Nigerian striker has been questioned for his lack of end product so it was important for him to get this goal.

Hopefully, they can take the positives from the first half and build on it in the second.

It’s important that they begin on a positive note in the second 45 as well and see out the game professionally.

Rather than sitting back and preserving what they’ve got, it’s important that they go on to extend their cushion.

It remains to be seen if Clement makes any changes at the break, but it’s best if he does not.

Fans will also be thrilled to see Nedim Bajrami and the impact he’s having down the wings, so hopefully, that can continue.
