Zak Lovelace could now leave Rangers before the 30 August transfer deadline, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet reported on 26 August that the 18-year-old is among a host of players who could potentially leave on loan after failing to impress Philippe Clement who finds no place for them in his first-team plans.

“Big decisions” are expected to be made over the coming days as there are incomings and outgoings on the cards.

For Lovelace, it represents a u-turn in the club’s stance as Four Lads revealed in May that the teenage attacker has no intention of leaving Ibrox.

Zak Lovelace leaving Rangers on loan is the right decision

Loaning out players like Lovelace and Alex Lowry, among others, makes strategic sense for the Ibrox outfit as it provides these young talents with essential first-team experience, which they might not get in Glasgow due to competition for places.

This experience can accelerate their development, potentially increasing their value or preparing them for future roles at Rangers.

Secondly, it reduces the wage bill and frees up squad space, allowing Gers to manage their resources more effectively or bring in players that fit Philippe Clement’s immediate plans.

The Belgian should have a veto on these deals because his vision for the team’s immediate and long-term future is crucial.

He understands the squad’s needs better than anyone and can assess whether a player’s absence would weaken the team or if their development elsewhere could benefit the club later.

His veto ensures that loan moves align with the club’s strategic objectives, ensuring that no move inadvertently hampers the team’s competitive edge or long-term planning.

In other Rangers news, an update has emerged as Gers hold talks to sign a former Premier League defender on a free transfer.
