Armando Broja has named the Everton fans as a driving factor in his decision to move from Chelsea on loan.

The 22-year-old joined the Blues on deadline day [David Ornstein] after a move to Ipswich Town collapsed in the final days of the transfer window.

Everton unveiled Broja on their official channels on Thursday [5 September], with the Albanian conducting his first interview with the club and naming the key factor in his move to Goodison Park.

He said: “The main thing that stood out for me playing at Goodison in the past was the fans. It was loud. Being on the away team, the atmosphere was remarkable. It’s special and I can’t wait to be on the right side of the fans this time.

“They’re an amazing fanbase and they really love their football. Hopefully I can make a positive impact on them.

“The stadium has been around for a long, long time. Much longer than me! There are so many memories here and it’ll be very nice to play here before we move.”

It went down to the wire but Sean Dyche found the offensive recruit he was yearning for all summer in Broja, who is nursing an injury that will delay his Goodison Park bow.

The Blues are winless in their opening three Premier League fixtures, with the surrender of a two-goal lead against Bournemouth in a 3-2 loss at Goodison Park the crown jewel in a bitterly disappointing start to the season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Michael Keane found the back of the net for the Toffees, a minor consolation after failing to score in the two games prior.

There will be pressure for Broja to deliver immediate success at Goodison Park. The forward scored nine league goals in his last loan spell with Southampton and he will certainly need a double-digit return for the Blues to pull them out of the relegation zone.

However, given that Everton will not pay any wages until he is available for selection [Sunday Mirror], the deal represents excellent value with a £30m option to purchase should he impress, and even if not, his presence – when fit and available – will spurn Calvert-Lewin and Beto to perform this season.

The Everton fans have already shown this season what can happen when they feel the players are letting the club down, but they can also be fiercely supportive of those deemed worthy to represent the club.

Among Broja, Calvert-Lewin and Beto, the Blues should have enough firepower to save their season but it’s up to them to get their heads down and provide the goals the Toffees desperately need.
