'Close to being sealed': Romano says Wolves have reached verbal agreement over 'extremely interesting' target

Wolverhampton Wanderers are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as Gary O’Neil looks to bolster his ranks.

Wolves ended the 2023/24 Premier League season poorly, which may inspire the club to revamp the squad over the coming weeks.

The Molineux club is likely to look at a number of positions, such as defence, while their front line could also do with strengthening.

Although Wolves have options who can play at false nine or go into the channels, they don’t really have a physical presence who can hold the ball up.

However, on Thursday, reports started doing the rounds regarding Wolves and an “extremely interesting” attacking target.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update which bodes well for the old gold club and their pursuit of a new forward.

Wolves verbally agree Jorgen Strand Larsen fee

Romano, taking to X, has reported that Wolves have verbally agreed a €30million deal with Spanish outfit Celta Vigo for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The transfer insider also claimed that talks are ongoing over personal terms, which would get the deal over the line.

In terms of how far Wolves are in negotiations, the deal is “close to being sealed”, added Romano.

Who is Wolves target Jorgen Strand Larsen?

Jorgen Strand Larsen is a 24-year-old professional footballer who plays in attack, plies his trade for Celta Vigo, and represents Norway at international level.

The 6ft 4in ace learned the ropes in his home nation, with Kvik Halden and Sarpsborg – though he also had a loan stint at AC Milan’s academy – before joining Groningen in 2020.

After proving himself in the Netherlands, Larsen secured a move to Celta Vigo in 2022, where he has gone from strength to strength.

Last season, he registered 13 goals and three assists in 37 La Liga appearances. He has also won 14 caps for his nation, scoring three times.

Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig has compared him to Sweden legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic on X and has also dubbed him an “extremely interesting” forward.

Things seem to be on the right track with regards to Wolves and Larsen, and hopefully it shouldn’t be too long before the “here we go” comes.
