David Edgar shares if he expects new Rangers EGM after Dave King challenge

David Edgar doesn’t expect Rangers to hold an EGM to decide their next chairman despite Dave King’s latest challenge.

Edgar reacted via X after the former chairman challenged the current board at Ibrox to host an EGM vote for John Bennett’s replacement.

John Gilligan was confirmed as a director on 19 September, with his main priority currently to appoint the next chairman, as well as another CEO [Chris Jack].

Edgar wrote: “Can’t see this happening.”

Rangers need to avoid Dave King

While some fans may see King as a valid option to take over from Bennett, the fact that the Rangers board are still hostile towards the 69-year-old after the way he left things, says all you need to know [Keith Jackson, 16 September].

Stability is needed quickly at Ibrox, but the only way that will arrive is a sensible appointment.

There’s no denying that King brought a wealth of success along with him last time but it’s highly unlikely that the same thing will happen again this time around.

King would bring even more drama to Ibrox which is the last thing the club needs this season, especially with their current form, as he continues to speak to the media.

While a chairman needs to be found soon, King doesn’t feel like the right option to take the club back to the top of the Scottish Premiership any time soon.
