Everton transfer round-up: Arsenal attacker eyed, Dele Alli latest shared

Everton are continuing their summer transfer business with both incomings and outgoings anticipated on Merseyside.

Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille and Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa are so far the only permanent arrivals at Goodison Park, whilst Ben Godfrey and Lewis Dobbin have been sold for eight-figure fees.

Jack Harrison has rejoined on loan from Leeds United for a second season, with the Toffees absolved of any loan fee to the Championship side, in exchange for paying 100 per cent of the player’s wages.

Goodison News rounds up the latest goings-on in the transfer market for Sean Dyche’s side.

Dele Alli contract update shared at Everton as Tottenham clauses emerge

Everton will find it difficult to re-sign Dele Alli this summer because of clauses included in his move from Tottenham, according to Joe Thomas.

The Liverpool Echo journalist reported via The Royal Blue Mersey YouTube channel (11 July) that while the midfielder has returned for pre-season, the terms of his original transfer make it hard for the Toffees to offer him a new contract.

If Sean Dyche’s side were to hand the England international a new deal on Merseyside, they would still have to pay Spurs add-ons if or when he hit appearance-related clauses included in his move from North London.

Speaking on The Royal Blue Mersey YouTube channel, Thomas said: “Whilst he’s out of contract with Everton, it’s not as simple as there’s no deal there so he can just sign for whoever he wants to for free.

“If it was Everton, I think there is an obligation on Everton to pay something to Spurs. I don’t know how much it is, but the terms of the original deal make it difficult for Everton to go back for Dele Alli without triggering something that is prohibitive for them.

“It’s not a free hit if they just offer him a contract and that’s part of the problem at the moment is trying to work their way through that.

“The reality is and this remains the case now, is the terms of the deal that took him from Tottenham to Everton make it very difficult for Everton to contemplate giving him a proper chance of signing a new deal to get into the Everton first team.

“It’s not a free hit, it’s not as straightforward as he’s now out of contract, if he was to accept token wages or something could he end up signing for Everton again? It’s not the free hit that we’d all expect it to be.”

Everton update emerges in Jaden Philogene transfer race after Hull City exit developments

Everton are not out of the race for Hull City ace Jaden Philogene, but they are playing catch-up with Ipswich Town, according to Joe Thomas.

The Liverpool Echo journalist reported via The Royal Blue Mersey YouTube channel (11 July) that while the Toffees could still sign the winger, both Aston Villa and the Tractor Boys lead them in the race.

While no decision has yet been made on where the 22-year-old will end up this summer, Sean Dyche’s side are understood to already be looking at alternative targets as well as Philogene.

Speaking on The Royal Blue Mersey YouTube channel, Thomas said: “I don’t think you can quite rule Everton out yet, because I still think there’s a little bit of mileage left in this one.

“But like I hope we made clear at the beginning of the week and I think there is an acceptance at Everton that Everton have to play catch up here. Ipswich have been leading it for a little while, Aston Villa are in a position where no matter how late they choose to come in they have a seat at the table.

“Everton are behind that, so I think Everton are probably moving on to have a look at other wingers now as well.”

Everton eye summer transfer for Eddie Nketiah as new Arsenal exit update emerges

Everton are interested in Arsenal strike Eddie Nketiah and could move to try and sign him soon, according to Caught Offside.

The outlet reported on its website on Thursday (11 July) that the Toffees alongside Premier League rivals, West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Brentford hold an interest in the England international’s signature.

Marseille are also preparing an opening offer in the region of £21million for the 25-year-old, but the Gunners are understood to value him somewhere between €29.5million and €33.7million and may hold out for more.

Nketiah is believed to be open and willing to leave the Emirates in search of a new challenge having fallen down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order and being limited to only 10 Premier League starts last term.

Wilfred Ndidi decides on Everton offer, deal to be confirmed within days

Wilfred Ndidi has chosen to stay with Leicester City this summer despite receiving a bid from Everton, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The Belgian journalist reported via his personal X account on Wednesday (10 July) that the midfielder’s decision is set to be confirmed by the newly promoted Premier League side in the next few days.

Having run down his contract at the King Power Stadium, the Toffees were interested in signing the player as a free agent, though Fabrizio Romano has revealed [10 July] that Ndidi has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal.

In other Everton news, Leon Osman has shared his verdict on the new stadium site.
