Rangers might have to accept a bid of £1.5million to sell Ianis Hagi this summer, according to Four Lads Had a Dream’s Stevie Clifford.
Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel on 22 July he thought £3million would’ve been good money for the Romania international.
The 25-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of next season and he is unlikely to stay at Ibrox beyond this summer.
Clifford said at 20:48: “You might have to have accept a lot less than what we were maybe looking for
“I was looking for £3million for Ianis Hagi you might have to accept half of that if we’re lucky just to get him out the door.”
Rangers must get Ianis Hagi off the wage bill as soon as possible
Gers’ decision to offload Hagi could be a prudent financial move.
The 25-year-old has seen his stock fall due to recent performances.
Accepting a bid of £1.5million, as suggested by Clifford, could be a realistic option given the circumstances.
Hagi’s contract runs out at the end of next season, making this summer the last chance for Rangers to recoup any transfer fee for him.
Keeping him on the books could see him leave for free next summer, a scenario the club would likely want to avoid.
Moreover, Hagi’s recent performances have not justified his wages.
His departure would free up funds that could be reinvested in the squad, potentially bringing in a player more suited to the club’s current needs.
This move would also provide Hagi with a fresh start and the opportunity to reignite his career elsewhere.
Given the comments from his agent, it does not seem that Hagi is fully committed to staying at Ibrox either.
In other Rangers news, the club are now set to make a bid to seal summer transfer No.7 with James Tavernier’s sale funding it.
