Rangers fans will be begging Philippe Clement to start Nedim Bajrami against Dundee in the Premier Sports Cup on Saturday (21 September).

The 25-year-old was handed his debut against Dundee United, coming on as a second-half substitute but failing to make the desired impact for the Gers.

Of course, the Albanian talent has had little time to settle into life at Ibrox, having gone straight onto international duty after signing for £3.4million from Sassuolo earlier this summer [Rangers Review].

As the utmost professional he is, Bajrami will be desperate to break into Clement’s starting XI against Dundee and prove himself in front of the home crowd after a disappointing debut.

The attacking midfielder only notched four goals and four assists during his time with Sassuolo, but there is certainly potential as seen in his Empoli days, where he recorded 22 goals and 22 assists in 127 matches.

Philippe Clement to start Deim Bajrami in Rangers v Dundee?

Despite the new signing, Tom Lawrence was given the nod by Clement against the Tangerines, which is certainly a decision that paid off as the Welshman scored the only goal of the game at Tannadice Park.

Fans, however, will still be desperate to see the Bajrami given his first start. The Rangers Journal labelled the player as a “technically gifted” star, who can play in multiple positions in the final third [X].

It is extremely unfair to judge the player on his first 45 minutes for the Gers, given how lacklustre it was, and Clement must give him another chance to prove himself in a Light Blue shirt.

Given Dundee have been unable to take all three points from the Gers since 2017, Clement can afford to make changes to his starting XI, and Bajrami being given a start must be one of them.

In other Rangers news, Gabby Agbonlahor instantly agreed with what Ally McCoist said about the Gers’ transfers.
