Rangers have had a tough time both on and off the pitch of late and as a result, they have found themselves third in the Scottish Premiership currently.
The Gers are 11 points away from their arch-rivals Celtic in the top spot although they are starting to catch up with Aberdeen in second place with two points separating the sides.
Despite some improved form for Philippe Clement’s side of late, there is still plenty of work to be done at Ibrox to convince supporters that things have changed.
Nils Koppen’s promotion to technical director means he will be overseeing the transfer window in January as his side looks to improve while also making sound financial decisions.
Koppen has something to prove at Rangers with some confused reactions over his promotion at the club meaning securing the departure of Alex Lowry before the second half of the campaign.
The Daily Mail reported that the 21-year-old is able to speak to non-Scottish clubs about a summer move.
Rangers need to offload Alex Lowry in January
A departure from Ibrox looks to be on the cards for Lowry as his contract with Rangers comes to an end in the summer.
This comes as no surprise as, despite a good start to life in Glasgow, an injury slowed the midfielder down in his progression and he has struggled to produce the same level of performance since.
Despite doing well on a loan spell with Hearts, this has not been enough to convince Clement that he is a player who will add to the Gers side this season.
With this in mind, Koppen has to look at his exit from a financial standpoint and make sure it happens in January.
The youngster sees his contract expire in the summer so if he is left during the January transfer window, the club will see themselves miss out as he leaves the club on a free.
Rangers need to be improving their finances and Koppen can show the supporters that he understands the need for this by offloading the player in the upcoming transfer window and receiving a fee for his services.
While this won’t be a groundbreaking amount in comparison to the likes of Hamza Igamane, who has also been liked with a move away from the Scottish Premiership outfit, it would certainly show that the Belgian has an understanding of what is needed to take the club forward.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have a Premier League midfielder on their radar ahead of the January transfer window.
