'I'm hearing from inside' - Si Ferry shares what he was told about Cerny at Rangers

Si Ferry has revealed that he has heard that new Rangers signing Vaclav Cerny has impressed in training since arriving at Ibrox.

The Czech international has joined Philippe Clement’s side on loan from Wolfsburg for the season and managed to pick up the assist for Cyriel Dessers’ last-minute equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Dynamo Kyiv.

While Clement is taking him time to bed the winger into his squad at the start of the season, Open Goal presenter Ferry believes he could be the long-term solution for the Light Blues on the right wing.

Speaking on The Open Goal YouTube channel (8 August, 21:00) he said: “The boy Cerny looks a player and I’m hearing from inside that in training he’s looked incredible, very good.

“Could he solve that wide right problem cutting in and putting balls into his left foot?”

Can Rangers sign Vaclav Cerny permanently after loan transfer?

Rangers supporters may have only caught a couple of glimpses of Vaclav in action so far this season, but the winger has certainly shown that he has more than a bit about him in his cameo appearances.

Ever since Clement arrived at Ibrox, he has had to play players out of position to accommodate his system which is heavily reliant on wingers and now he finally has the players to thrive in that system.

Alongside Oscar Cortes, who unfortunately picked up an injury against Hearts, and Jefte who impressed against Dynamo Kyiv, the Belgian now has a handful of players who are capable of getting the ball into the penalty area.

On top of that, the likes of Scott Wright, Ross McCausland and Rabbi Matondo are all still waiting in the wings to offer a different and occasionally more direct style if and when it is required.

Hopefully, Cerny will continue to impress both in matches and in training. Whether or not Rangers will be able to keep him past this initial loan spell, if it goes well, remains to be seen.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues still have hope of completing a deal for Brighton attacker Abdallah Sima this summer
