David Edgar claims Rangers will not be spending £4million to secure the services of Darius Olaru in the January transfer window.
The Daily Mail reported on 30 October that FCSB want to cash in on the Romania international once the window opens.
However, he’s understood to have a release clause of £4million and that’s not something Gers will be spending.
Via X, the Heart and Hand podcast host wrote: “And we ain’t spending that in January.”
Rangers need to focus on loan signings in January
Given Gers’ current financial situation and the need to maximise squad potential without breaking the bank, spending £4million on Olaru in January seems imprudent.
The club’s focus should shift towards securing impactful players on loan who can immediately bolster the first team.
With the ongoing title race against Celtic, Rangers need players who are not only cost-effective but can also adapt quickly and contribute significantly from the get-go.
Loan deals offer the advantage of having better players coming in without the long-term financial commitment of a permanent transfer.
This approach allows Gers to inject fresh talent into the squad, enhancing competition for places and potentially providing the tactical edge needed to challenge Celtic more effectively.
Whether Philippe Clement stays or leaves, it is still important for the club to bring in new players through the door.
In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the club hiring a manager like former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.
