Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is expected to miss the games against Aston Villa and Leicester City, according to Ben Dinnery.

The injury expert claimed on 2 September on X that his expected return is on 28 September, when the Toffees take on Crystal Palace.

The Toffees have endured an awful start to the season, losing all three of their games in the Premier League.

Jarrad Branthwaite’s return may help Everton solidify at the back

The Toffees’ defensive woes this season have been glaringly evident, and the absence of Jarrad Branthwaite has significantly contributed to this vulnerability.

His physical presence, coupled with his composure on the ball, has been sorely missed in a backline that has struggled to find stability.

Against Crystal Palace, his return could be pivotal in shoring up Everton’s defence, providing much-needed aerial dominance and tactical awareness.

However, while the 22-year-old’s comeback might bolster the defence, the broader issues at Goodison Park extend beyond one player’s absence.

Sean Dyche faces mounting pressure to orchestrate a turnaround in form and team cohesion.

The early defeats highlight deeper systemic problems, including tactical setup and team spirit, which Dyche must address swiftly.

If results don’t improve, despite Branthwaite’s return, the spotlight on Dyche’s tenure could intensify, potentially leading to his dismissal if the team fails to find its footing soon.

In other Everton news, an update has emerged on the Toffees’ takeover amid a recent John Textor development.
