International player gives green signal as Everton in talks to seal new transfer - report

Striker Iliman Ndiaye has given Marseille the green signal to move to Everton as talks continue between the two clubs, according to Fabrice Hawkins.

The RMC Sport journalist reported on 24 June that the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement for the Senegal international.

The departure of the 24-year-old striker now appears to be on the cards this summer and a bid has already been made for him. [Foot Mercato, 20 June]

Via Twitter, Hawkins wrote: “Iliman N’Diaye gave the green light for OM and Everton to continue negotiating. Everton and OM are also close to an agreement. We are heading towards the departure of the Senegalese striker.”

Iliman Ndiaye will be a good signing for Everton

The Toffees must prioritise this transfer as Ndiaye’s versatility as a forward who can play across the frontline and as an attacking midfielder adds depth to the squad.

His pace and ability to take on defenders make him a threat in attack, which is a quality the Toffees need.

The Senegal international’s experience in the Premier League with Sheffield United means he should not need long to adapt to English football again.

With Everton’s interest in Ndiaye long-standing, it indicates that the recruitment department sees a lot of potential in him.

The Merseyside outfit themselves need to replace departed players and strengthen their squad, Ndiaye’s arrival would be a step in the right direction.

Whether or not the two clubs can iron out a deal, remains to be seen, but appears to be progressing well.
