Jamie Carragher has shared a new Sean Dyche exit verdict, admitting he doesn’t think Everton should sack him this season.

The Toffees currently sit in the Premier League relegation zone with only a single point to their name having failed to win any of their opening five league matches of the season.

Carragher believes Dyche is the right man to keep the Blues up this season, he believes the Friedkin Group will make a change before the start of the next campaign after they reached an agreement to take over the Toffees.

Speaking on The Overlap on Wednesday (25 September, 48:25) he said: “I’ve got friends and family who go to the games and when you talk about we need to change the manager, I think Sean Dyche has done a really good job.

“From when he came into where they are now, stabilising it, would have finished not far off midtable last season if the point deductions weren’t there.

“Another poor start to the season, but normally when you bring in a manager to keep you in the league, it’s that type of manager, keeping clean sheets, make it difficult, hard to beat.

“Listen, I understand the results have been really poor and I know the football is not amazing, but when people talk about changing Sean Dyche now, I don’t see that.

“I see Everton in a new stadium with new ownership and a new manager next season. I do see that, but I don’t think they should change the manager this season in terms of someone else who would keep you in the Premier League.

“I still think Sean Dyche will be able to navigate that.”

Will Everton sack Sean Dyche after Goodison Park takeover developments?

Any manager who has failed to win any of their opening four matches of the Premier League season is going to be feeling the pressure slightly, but it does still feel like Dyche can turn things around on Merseyside.

Yes, the Toffees have been poor so far this term and the performances have left more than a bit to be desired, yet there have been signs within matches that when this team finally click, they could be difficult to beat.

Everton look more threatening going forward than they did last season and although the defence has been rather leaky this term, the return of Jarrad Branthwaite should help the Blues sure things up at the back.

Hopefully, the Toffees can end that winless run sooner rather than later to ease the pressure on Dyche and his side.

He may not be the Blues boss when next season rolls around, but he still has a major role to play this season.
