Man United ready Rangers ticket plan at Old Trafford ahead of Europa League clash - report

Manchester United have already made plans to stop Rangers fans sitting in sections of Old Trafford made for home supporters, according to Mike Gill.

The Daily Mail journalist reported on Monday (21 October) that the Red Devils have opted to not sell tickets for the showdown to anyone who wasn’t a member of the club before the Europa League draw was completed.

Philippe Clement’s side aren’t due to make the trip south of the border for another three months, with their showdown with United set to take place on 23 January.

Erik ten Hag’s side have opted to take this course of action after 2,000 Galatasaray fans managed to secure tickets in the home areas of Old Trafford last season, with this fixture deemed high-risk.

How many tickets will Rangers have for Europa League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford?

It isn’t a surprise to see United move early to put plans in place to stop Gers supporters. This fixture is easily one of the biggest on Rangers’ calendar this term and the demand for tickets will be huge.

While Clement and his side will surely want as many travelling fans inside the ground as possible, the Red Devils were never going to be keen on the idea that there could be just as many Gers supporters in attendance as genuine home fans.

Hopefully, the Light Blues will still be given a good away allocation so that plenty of supporters can get to Old Trafford and support the Gers.

Given their recent form, they will need the energy of the crowd to have any hope of returning north of the border with three points under their belt.

Ultimately, it will be refreshing to see a ground full of supporters from both clubs for this sort of game.

Over the last few years, Rangers have very rarely played in front of sold-out grounds with fans of both clubs because of the ban on away supporters in Old Firm games.
