'More chance of winning strictly': Paul Merson trolls Ange Postecoglou after hearing what he said post-Arsenal

Ange Postecoglou came out fighting after seeing his Tottenham side lose to Arsenal but Paul Merson hasn’t missed his chance to have a dig.

Merson looked on from the Sky Sports studio as his former side won out at Tottenham thanks to a second half header from Gabriel.

Gabriel put in yet another fine performance alongside William Saliba in the centre of the defence, with Saliba praised by Matt Upson for his role in the win.

Still, despite the defeat and seeing Tottenham win only once this season, Spurs boss Postecoglou came out swinging afterwards.

Commenting on his second seasons in his post-match interview, Postecoglou went a bit Mourinho with his comments on trophies.

“I will correct myself: I don’t usually win things, I always win things in my second year. Nothing has changed,” he said.

And not wanting to miss a beat on that comment, Merson has had his say.

Paul Merson suggests Postecoglou will win nothing with Tottenham

Speaking on Sky Sports after hearing Postecoglou’s comments, Merson couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at the Tottenham boss.

“I like Ange, I like him, but I have got more chance of winning Strictly,” Merson quipped.

Tottenham need to focus on the cups

While the remit set from Daniel Levy will be to get into the top four and keep that Champions League cash rolling in, Tottenham fans deserve more.

For Postecoglou, who is clearly confident from his spells at Celtic and prior to that, it means now focussing on winning a cup.

Tottenham are going to go nowhere near in the league. They are simply not good enough.

But in the cups, there is a chance for Spurs to do something and if Postecoglou does that, he can at least silence Merson and others.

Right now, Merson and Arsenal fans have the higher ground and put simply, they are a far superior team under Mikel Arteta.
