National media hail Arsenal target Xavi Simons

TBR reported last month that Arsenal had made a contract to sign Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Xavi Simons.

The Gunners are keen to add the 2003-born to their attacking ranks after he netted 10 times whilst laying on 15 assists for RB Leipzig last term during a productive season-long loan spell.

Simons was in action on Tuesday evening for his native Netherlands as they cruised passed Romania 3-0 to advance to the quarter-finals.

National newspaper Het Parool hailed his role in the opening goal and said he was a threat all game.

“After a small storm in the opening phase, the Dutch team effortlessly found the spaces between the lines, with Jerdy Schouten as the ideal connecting player, and with the wandering Xavi Simons who always sowed doubt in the Romanian defense. The opening goal of Oranje fell in exactly the same way,” the Dutch outlet wrote.

Ronald Koeman also issued Simons with a glowing report: “Xavi Simons was absolutely incredible today. He took the right decision every single time, and his drive was fantastic.”

The cost of Xavi Simons

PSG are demanding an eye-watering £85m for Simons if they are to sanction his sale this summer, as per TNT Sports.

Manchester United are also said to be eyeing a move for the attacker whilst Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich circle.

A loan deal is thought to be possible with a view of making it permanent next year for any potential forthcoming suitors.
