Newcastle fans rage at 'terrible' PIF after Eddie Howe's confession

Newcastle United fans have been left raging at their PIF ownership after Eddie Howe’s latest admission about the transfer window.

The boss revealed that it will not be possible for the club to bring in both a new centre-back and right-winger before the window closes on 30 August.

This is despite the positions being named as clear priorities to strengthen their squad in preparation for the new season.

Injuries to Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman, as well as a lack of quality depth in the position, made a new centre-back a priority for the Magpies this summer.

Meanwhile, concerns about the ability of Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy as the two options on the right-hand side had led to demands for a top-quality winger to arrive.

Now, however, it seems the club will be forced to choose between one or the other – leaving fans raging at what has been a “terrible” transfer window.

PSR concerns appeared to have been dismissed at the beginning of the window, and supporters were hopeful this would allow big-spending through the summer.

However, the arrivals of Odysseas Vlachodimos, William Osula, Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy have failed to address key areas of the team.

Much of Newcastle’s effort in this summer’s window has been focused on signing Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, but the seemingly endless saga has only led to further frustration.

Taking to social media in response to Howe’s quotes, supporters have begun to question the ownership and why they have neglected clear issues in the squad.
