Paris Saint-Germain could sign Everton star, he will cost £50.8m - report

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is attracting the attention of Paris Saint-Germain after impressing for Belgium at Euro 2024, according to Foot Mercato.

The French outlet reported (27 June) that PSG, alongside Manchester United and Barcelona, are all keen on signing the 22-year-old this summer, with the Toffees set to demand a fee of up to £50.8million.

PSG are the latest club to express interest in signing Onana, who was described as “the exception” in a Belgium team “without imagination” during the Euro 2024 group stages.

Manchester United have reportedly dropped out of the race to sign Onana due to their interest in PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, while the Parisians see him as a cheaper alternative to Benfica’s Joao Neves.

Onana looks the most likely of any player not to be donning a blue shirt at Goodison Park next season, given the number of clubs to have expressed interest in him already.

The midfielder himself has inferred that a transfer this summer is on the cards, telling Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws that he wanted to “present himself” to Europe’s elite clubs at Euro 2024 (30 May).

Everton seem increasingly likely to sell Amadou Onana in the summer transfer window

The Toffees’ financial worries over the course of the last 12 months mean that player sales seem inevitable this summer, though the club have done all they can to keep hold of Jarrad Branthwaite [Don Hutchison, 18 June].

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future also under question-shaped clouds, incoming new owner Dan Friedkin could alleviate the burden of a profit and sustainability loss by selling Onana in the coming days [HITC, 30 May].

PSG parting with over £50million for Onana and getting their noses ahead in the race for the Belgian would be a welcome move from Everton’s perspective, while also giving Onana the elite European move he seemingly craves.

In other Everton news, two Premier League clubs have made a move for Calvert-Lewin after Newcastle’s move collapsed.
