Player disappoints in pre-season match, Everton want to sign him - reports

Napoli playmaker Jesper Lindstrom has failed to impress in a recent pre-season friendly as Everton continues their interest, according to Sport Napoli.

It was a convincing 4-0 victory for the Serie A side against Anaune Val di Non, but Lindstrom wasn’t among those who impressed.

In fact, it’s said he had a disappointing outing, with Antonio Conte set to conduct an aptitude test that will bring him to a final assessment of how his squad is performing.

It’s been well-documented that Everton has made a request to sign Lindstrom (Corriere dello Sport, 17 July), so, when reading about his performance here, you could look at it one of two ways if you’re a Toffees fan.

You may see this as a good thing because it increases the likelihood of him being put on the chopping block. In equal measure, though, it’s not a great sign that he isn’t up to scratch in pre-season.

With Amadou Onana on his way out and other top names like Jarrad Branthwaite being linked with an exit, things are quite up in the air.

Everton finished last season down in fifteenth place in the Premier League, so while some may be desperate to see new incoming signings, they have to ensure that they’re the right fit for Sean Dyche.

If not, another relegation battle could be on the horizon, something that everyone will make sure they want to avoid this time around as the dust settles.
