Player likes Premier League offer as Everton make bid for new transfer - report

Barcelona striker Vitor Roque likes the offer of the Premier League after Everton made a bid to sign him this month, according to Catalunya.

The Spanish outlet reported [14 August] that Goodison Park is seen as an ideal destination for his continued development, though the Toffees will need to raise their offer to strike a deal.

Sean Dyche’s side tabled a £23.8million for the 19-year-old forward, according to Florian Plettenberg, but it is understood that the La Liga giants are now demanding a fixed fee of at least £25.7million.

Everton nearing a deal to sign Vitor Roque?

The signing of Roque would be a huge statement from the Merseyside club this summer, even despite his age and lack of European experience.

As a teenager, Roque had already attracted interest from all over Europe, having broken into the Athletico Paranaense first-team squad, where he notched 28 goals and 11 assists in 81 appearances.

While a move to Barcelona would have been a dream for him as a youngster, it has not worked out as well as many hoped, having made just 16 appearances since arriving.

Furthermore, only two of those have been La Liga starts, though he has still managed to hit the back of the net twice despite his lack of minutes on the pitch.

The Brazilian has the potential to be something special, like many youngsters that come from South America, and his true talent could be realised at Goodison Park and in the Premier League.

With few funds separating Everton from striking a deal with Barcelona, it looks like the deal is inching ever closer, and given that he is surplus to requirement for Hansi Flick, only a late twist would see this move failing.

He is certainly a very different figure to that of Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Beto, but he will bring a lot of excitement and expectation with him to the blue side of Merseyside.

In other Everton news, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were in stitches after what they said about the Toffees.
