Pundit View: Mikey Moore will not be affected as transfer news drops at Tottenham

Paul Robinson does not believe the re-signing of Timo Werner will affect Mikey Moore’s Tottenham future in a negative way next season.

The club confirmed their decision to re-loan the RB Leipzig forward ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, including an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

Moore, 16, recently experienced a breakthrough under Ange Postecoglou, making two substitute appearances in the Premier League before the season ended.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said: “He’s still a young kid, a fledgling in his career. We’ve seen towards the end of the season that the manager isn’t afraid to put him into the squad, so I don’t think any player coming into the squad will affect his future.

“Next season, it will be interesting to see what the club and the manager think is best for his development, whether it’s a loan in the Premier League or the top half of the Championship.

“It might even be too early for him to go on loan. It’s worth keeping him in and around the squad, training with the manager and the quality of the players at Tottenham, and maybe on loan the season after if he doesn’t make a breakthrough.

“It’s a really interesting one to watch because he’s a really talented young player.”

Not many teenagers can tell a story about coming on as a substitute during a match between Spurs and Manchester City, but it seems 16-year-old Moore is living the dream.

Postecoglou is not afraid to experiment with his squad, especially when it comes to the youth players, and they could certainly be called upon next season for squad depth with Europa League football secured.

It will be interesting to see what Spurs decide to do over Moore’s future, especially with Werner’s introduction back into the squad next season.
