Rangers have officially registered the termination of John Bennett’s tenure as chairman on Companies House.
An official document [18 September] has emerged which notes that Bennett’s reign at Ibrox came to a formal end on Friday 13 September.
A process is now well underway to secure Bennett’s replacement after the 61-year-old was forced to step down for medical reasons.
Rangers publish official John Bennett departure
Rangers are now in a multiple process of change on the board with John Gilligan having stepped up for Bennett on an interim basis, tasked with replacing James Bisgrove as CEO.
Minor shareholder George Letham has been drafted into an advisory role at Ibrox by Gilligan [Chris Jack, 17 September], with former chairman Dave King dividing supporters with views on a return.
Some quarters believe the potential comeback of King would create a “psycho-drama” which is the last thing the club needs as they cry out for sustainability.
King’s name coming to the fore has also brought Steven Gerrard’s name with it [talkSPORT, 17 September], though the title-winning boss has quashed rumours of a return amid potential pressure building on Philippe Clement.
The Gers have lost some ground in the Scottish Premiership already and chaotic instability at the top will only prolong the issues.
