Rangers made Sevilla an offer to cover less than 30 per cent of the wages of Joan Jordan, according to Máximo de la Cruz Ramirez.

The El Sevillista journalist claimed on X on 13 July that the offer was a loan one and was duly rejected by the Spanish side.

Sevilla did not want to pay more than 70 per cent of the wages while allowing the 30-year-old central midfielder to leave on loan.

Ramirez wrote: “The proposal that Rangers offered to Sevilla FC as advance for Joan Jordán, was a simple transfer and Sevilla FC had to pay more than 70% of the wages. This caused the offer for the Catalan player to be rejected.”

Rangers must return with an improved offer for Joan Jordan

Gers should consider returning with an improved offer for Jordan due to his experience and the potential value he could bring to the team.

The 30-year-old a seasoned midfielder with extensive experience in La Liga and European competitions, could provide much-needed depth and quality to their midfield.

His ability to control the tempo of the game, distribute the ball effectively, and contribute defensively could significantly enhance Philippe Clement’s midfield options.

Moreover, the Spaniard’s leadership qualities and winning mentality, as evidenced by his success with Sevilla, could prove invaluable in the competitive Scottish Premiership.

His presence could also help mentor younger players in the squad, providing guidance and setting a high standard of performance.

To secure Jordan’s services, the Ibrox outfit should consider revising their offer to a more reasonable wage split that is acceptable to Sevilla.

This could involve offering to cover a higher percentage of Jordan’s wages during the loan period but it’s imperative that they do not give this up.

In other Rangers news, the club are expected to intensify their pursuit to sign Lawrence Shankland after a recent transfer development.
