Rangers star in protective boot after pre-season loss v Ajax - Chris Jack

Nicolas Raskin has been spotted wearing a protective boot after suffering an injury in the pre-season clash between Rangers and Ajax.

Writing on his personal X account (13 July), Chris Jack reports that the Belgium midfielder was seen leaving the stadium after being forced off during the 2-1 loss in the Netherlands.

Raskin started the game in midfield alongside Mohamed Diomande but was substituted during the first half and replaced by Connor Barron, in what will be a worry to Philippe Clement.

There have already been six incomings and six outgoings at Ibrox this summer in Clement’s squad, but there is still expected to be plenty more [Four Lads, 11 July].

Midfield is an area that is expected to be targeted with limited numbers in that position, but Raskin’s injury will only make things even more difficult and if serious then it could really change the club’s plans in the transfer market.

A new striker is expected at some point, but with a limited budget, sales are expected and that could see players leave to bankroll that [Football Scotland, 25 June].

Raskin and Diomande won’t be sold, especially if they’re injured, while Barron has only just joined. There are question marks around the likes of Tom Lawrence and Kieran Dowell but they existed already.

The transfer market still has a way to run, but the season isn’t far from kicking off for real and big decisions will need to be made now.
