Rangers on brink of new stadium deal after Ibrox crisis, picks up serious pace - report

Hampden Park is now the frontrunner to be the home of Rangers for at least the first month of the season, according to the Daily Record.

The report details that talks around Rangers relocating have picked up pace in the last couple of weeks, despite there being some “extremely complicated” talks still needing to take place.

However, there’s reason to be confident that a deal could be struck as early as next week after delays to construction on Ibrox.

What does this mean for Rangers and the start of the SPFL season?

Following the emergence of news that Rangers wouldn’t be able to play their games at Ibrox due to a delay in the development of the Copland Road stand, fans were sent into meltdown and the club were left red-faced.

In fact, the project manager in charge of the development was sacked [Scottish Sun, 20 June] due to the debacle.

It was initially thought that Murrayfield would be where the Gers would have to play [Scottish Sun, 20 June] for at least the first month of their campaign.

This is because of several reasons but the main issue was the fact that nobody was sure if Hampden would be ready [Andy Newport, 20 June] due to the recent concerts held there by Pink.

Evidently, a plan has been written up to allow Philippe Clement’s men to not have to travel across the country to play their home games.

All in all, although it isn’t Ibrox, this is likely the best outcome for the Gers and their fans.

In other Rangers news, Scott Wright has been offered an Ibrox exit from a Championship club.
