Rangers will listen to offers for Todd Cantwell - report

Rangers are ready to listen to offers for playmaker Todd Cantwell this summer as Philippe Clement looks to rebuild the squad, according to The Sun.

Writing on their website (20 June), the news outlet report that the former Norwich midfielder could potentially leave Ibrox if the club receive an acceptable offer.

The club are “willing” to listen to offers for the Englishman, who scored eight goals and registered seven assists in 44 appearances last season, with Clement keen to put his stamp on the playing staff at the club.

There are no doubt changes needed at Ibrox this summer, and those changes are already underway with a host of exits and arrivals.

John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe, Jon McLaughlin and Ryan Jack have all left at the end of their contracts while Fabio Silva and Abdallah Sima have returned to their parent clubs.

They have confirmed the arrivals of Jefte, Oscar Cortes and Clinton Nsiala with Liam Kelly, Connor Barron and Hamza Igamane expected to follow shortly.

But selling Cantwell would just be a backwards step for the squad, with the budget not stretching enough to find someone who has his quality and ability.

Has he shown it enough while at the club? Definitely not. But it’s clear that when he is firing he is one of the team’s best players and Clement should want to get that out of him as regularly as possible.

There are plenty of players who should be shown the exit door before Cantwell, and if he was to be moved on this summer it would be another mistake by the club.
