Report: Arsenal are now the favourites to sign the new Paul Pogba, he's got the same agents as William Saliba
????
Arsenal are expected to be on the market for new signings in 2025.
The Gunners, in many people’s eyes, were guaranteed to challenge for the Premier League title again, and they are still in the mix. But, things haven’t fully gone to plan.
Arsenal have dropped points in eight of their first 16 Premier League games this season. They are now six points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have played a game fewer.
Irrespective of what happens in the next few months, Arsenal will have to improve their squad, and they have now been linked with a move to sign an exciting midfielder.
Arsenal are eyeing a move to sign Lucien Agoume
Arsenal will have a problem to address in midfield in 2025.
Thomas Partey and Jorginho will both be available on a free transfer in July. Arsenal do have an option to extend the latter’s deal by another 12 months, but it’s unclear if they will exercise that.
Arsenal will definitely be on the market for a new midfielder in one of the next two windows, and Lucien Agoume is a target for Mikel Arteta.
That’s according to Football Transfers, who claim that Arsenal are eyeing a move to sign the Sevilla star as a potential replacement for Partey.
Other top clubs including Barcelona are said to be interested in the 22-year-old, but the report claims that Arsenal are ahead of everyone else in the race to land him – the player favours a move to the Premier League too.
Sevilla, for their part, are in a very strong position. Agoume only joined them in the summer of 2024 and his contract does not expire until 2028. He cost them just €4 million – it remains to be seen how much they will demand for him in 2025.
Agoume is represented by ND Sports Management, who are also the agents of William Saliba. That could potentially help Arsenal in negotiations.
Who is Arsenal target Lucien Agoume?
Agoume is a 22-year-old Cameroon-born French midfielder who plays his football for Sevilla.
Naturally a defensive midfielder, he can play further up the pitch as well. His ‘physicality, versatility and technical skill’ have led to people comparing him to Paul Pogba, Football Transfers claim.
Previously a title-winner with Inter Milan, Agoume has become a regular at Sevilla now. He has a bright future ahead of him and has the potential to play for a huge club one day.
Arsenal will need a top-quality replacement for Partey if he leaves in 2025. Agoume may not be ready for such a big role yet, but he is definitely one to keep an eye on for the future.
