Report: Aston Villa now want to sign £25m attacker who Virgil van Dijk struggled against at Euro 2024
He impressed many at Euro 2024...????
According to a recent report, Aston Villa are interested in signing a winger who really impressed at Euro 2024 in Germany.
The Villans have made a fast start to the summer transfer window having already signed Ian Maatsen, Ross Barkley, Samuel Iling-Junior, Lewis Dobbin and Enzo Barrenchea.
Unai Emery and sporting director Monchi aren’t done there, though, as they’re now looking at a £25m-rated attacker, who is gathering interest from other Premier League clubs.
Aston Villa want to sign Baris Alper Yilmaz
According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Aston Villa are interested in signing Turkey and Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz this summer.
The 24-year-old is also attracting interest from Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion – so it won’t be an easy deal to complete.
The Turkish champions will only sanction a sale if their £25m valuation is met after his impressive performances at Euro 2024.
Yilmaz, who can operate on either flank, netted seven times whilst laying on 12 assists last term.
Virgil van Dijk found it tough against Baris Yilmaz
Virgil van Dijk admitted that Yilmaz was tough to play against during Netherlands’ 2-1 win over Turkey in the quarter-finals.
As quoted by Milliyet, the Reds defender said: “Baris Alper Yilmaz was running constantly. He was running elusive. It was difficult for every defender.
“He made it very hard for us. He couldn’t score a goal though. If we were to describe him in any way, he is a really important player.”
If one of the best defenders in the world struggled against him, then it’s evident he’d be a great addition for The Villans.
Further, Yilmaz is available for a very reasonable fee and at 24-years-old, he’s got plenty of time to develop and get even better.
