Tottenham have requested Yang Min-hyeok to join the team in December as opposed to January as previously planned, according to The Chosun Ilbo.

The Korean newspaper reported via their website on Thursday [14 November] that the 18-year-old will take a two-week rest after completing his season with Gangwon on 29 November and report for training in North London in mid-December.

Spurs signed Yang from Gangwon for £3.3million and had announced that he would join in January, but have now requested him to link up with the team early amid injuries to Richarlison and Wilson Odobert.

The Chosun Ilbo added that Tottenham plan to integrate the teenager into the first team right away despite only making his professional debut this year.

Richarlison and Odobert are sidelined with serious injuries, while Son Heung-min has already missed six games across all competitions this season.

This is why it would make sense for Ange Postecoglou to have Yang as an option despite his tender age and inexperience.

Yang could make his senior debut for Spurs earlier than many expected, but Postecoglou is also unlikely to rush him.

The North London outfit would want the right-footed winger to quickly get up to speed and that is likely the reason why they have requested him to join in December.

Yang faces a higher risk of injury and would need time to settle into life in England and it would be harmful to rush him into action.

He would need to wait until January to make his debut anyway due to transfer rules.
