Tim Sherwood believes Tottenham's £39M and £15M stars are unlike any other players in the Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur thumped West Ham United 4-1 with two of their key players looking back to their best in the London derby.

Tottenham had to respond to their defeat to Brighton before the international break and did so in emphatic style by hitting the Hammers for four.

Goals from Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son, Yves Bissouma and an Alphonse Areola own goal helped to secure Ange Postecoglou’s first major London derby win.

The Lilywhites were finally rewarded for a strong performance with a positive result and it was the performance of their dynamic duo which caught the eye of Tim Sherwood.

Tim Sherwood on Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie

Sherwood claims that Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro are unlike any full-back pairing in the Premier League the freedom Postecoglou gives them.

The Australian manager gives them the licence to move into midfield positions and also get forward and attack. Sometimes this certainly has its implications leaving Spurs open, however, against West Ham Udogie assisted Yves Bissouma for the winning-goal.

Sherwood told the Premier League: “You don’t see full-backs in that position for any other team. Basically what the manager says is if you see grass in front of you, go forward, express yourself and balance it off. And that’s what they do. Udogie and Pedro Porro are fantastic in the final third.”

What are the media said about Destiny Udogie vs West Ham

The media were really impressed by Udogie’s performance against West Ham as the defender responded well to his tricky afternoon against Brighton in Spurs’ last outing.

Football.London gave the Italian an 8/10 for his display and wrote: “Made a few decent runs going forward early on but was really poor for Kudus’ opening goal as he allowed Bowen to ease past him in the area.

“Responded well to the setback and continued to push forward at every opportunity and almost got an assist to his name for Johnson’s header that went wide.

“However, he was to get an assist following a neat turn and pass to put the ball on a plate for Bissouma to finish off early in the second half. Impressive from the Italian in his playing time.”

Squawka gave him a 65 percent rating for his assist and strong defensive play: “He created the host’s go-ahead goal when he teed up Bissouma while he won possession in the defensive third on three occasions.”

The Evening Standard were also impressed by the defender’s display claiming: “Excellent performance. Assisted Bissouma’s goal with good work on the left and was always an option on the left.”
