Everton will play out a draw with Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park on Sunday, according to Chris Sutton.
The former striker has issued his Premier League predictions on BBC Sport [28 December] and punted for a 1-1 draw, with Sean Dyche’s side “surprising” a few people against the rampant fourth-placed Forest.
Sutton was also very complimentary of some of Nuno’s squad that Everton will face on Sunday [29 December], including the “phenomenal” right-back Ola Aina, while claiming the centre-back pairing of Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic is the best in the Premier League this season.
“Their centre-back pairing of Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo has been the best in the Premier League this season, and their right-back Ola Aina is in phenomenal form as well,” he said.
“Anthony Elanga, who got their winner against Spurs, is on a decent scoring run too, and it is going to be hard for Everton to stop them.
“I think Sean Dyche’s side will surprise a few people again here, though, and I am going for them to get another draw. Everton are on a run of three draws, they got them against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, in games where everyone expected them to be beaten – including me.”
Everton resilient but facing a machine Nottingham Forest outfit
Everton have undergone a vast improvement in recent games, the sort of surge some did expect to eventually happen based on the latter part of last season.
By contrast, Forest have been superb all campaign, and will head to Goodison with confidence. Many are simply wondering ‘when’ it will begin to slow down for Nuno’s visitors rather than ‘if’.
The 2-0 win at Goodison for the Toffees last season was a controversial one back in April, but Blues fans will regardless be hoping for a similar result despite Forest being the favourites.
There will be dreams of a long-awaited European return for the East Midlands outfit, but for now they will be solely focused on picking up as many points as possible; Dyche, however, will again make Everton resilient and hard to break down.
In different ways, both sides are in very encouraging form. Which way it tilts – if at all – is anyone’s guess.
