Transfer Guru: Significant Erling Haaland update today

Erling Haaland is not considering pushing for a move away from Man City despite links with a move to Spain next summer.

This is according to former Man United and West Ham chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the striker is happy at the Etihad and is not looking to leave.

This comes following reports in Spain that the striker, 24, has already decided to leave City and pursue a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

It was also said that Pep Guardiola’s side would not entertain the idea of his exit, and instead will look to tie him down to a new deal.

Haaland’s current contract is set to run until the summer of 2027, but City remain keen to ensure his long-term future remains in England.

Interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona comes as no surprise given Haaland’s superstar status, but as things stand, a move to Spain is not on the cards.

Haaland has scored 101 goals in just 109 games since his move to City in 2022, inspiring rumours that the Spanish giants could make him their latest big-name signing.

Brown, who has 40 years of working in recruitment at the top level including over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that neither Haaland nor Man City would entertain talks of a move away.

“I’d be absolutely staggered if that happened,” he told Football Insider.

“I think City will be looking to tie him down to a long-term deal rather than letting him leave.

“Things couldn’t have gone better for him since his move to Manchester.

“I can’t see him being so dissatisfied with life at Man City that he looks to find a move away.

“That seems like a non-story to me. He’s happy at City and City are, of course, happy with him and his performances, so he won’t be looking to force a move.

“You can never discount the fact that somebody might, given the opportunity, want to go to Real Madrid. They want the Galacticos and they’re always looking at the best players in the world.

“But I know Man City won’t entertain a situation where they might lose him.“
