Sean Dyche’s future at Everton has been helped out by the early form of new signings Tim Iroegbunam and Iliman Ndiaye, according to Sky Sports.

In an article published on Wednesday [18 September] following the Toffees’ penalty shootout knockout by Southampton from the Carabao Cup, it was explained that some of Dyche’s credit in the bank at Goodison is down to the “early opportunities afforded” to the duo.

Midfielder Iroegbunam was signed for around £9m from Aston Villa over the summer, while striker Ndiaye arrived from Marseille in a £15m deal.

Everton and recent cup opponents Southampton are in similar boats in a sense – they both prop up the Premier League table without a point, but the manager is still onside with many due to previous achievements.

While Russell Martin took Saints straight back into the top flight, Dyche has twice kept the Toffees in it – and has looked to take another step forward by offering chances to his new charges.

Through no fault of the likes of Iroegbunam and Ndiaye are Everton in the position they are in – on the pitch, it has tended to be the elder statesmen who have let the side down, and Dyche is hardly blessed with exciting squad depth.

The aforementioned duo, 21 and 24 respectively, could potentially be key men in yet another survival battle – a heap of pressure on players not yet at their prime with the prospect of Championship football in the new stadium an utter disaster.

Next up is Saturday’s already crucial trip to Leicester City, who are thoroughly expected to be direct competitors for the Blues this campaign – defeat number five would ring serious alarm bells.
