Rangers are likely to get an unexpected bonus from the sale of Jose Cifuentes, according to Heart and Hand’s David Edgar.
This comes after Sportime journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos claimed on 26 July that Cifuentes is set to join Aris Thessaloniki on loan.
However, there is an obligation to buy meaning Aris will have to pay Gers £4.22million to sign him permanently next summer.

Jose Cifuentes was unlikely to ever cut it at Rangers
The potential sale of Cifuentes to Aris Thessaloniki for £4.22million is a good deal for Gers for several as the Ecuadorian struggled to make an impact during his time at Ibrox, failing to establish himself as a key player in the team.
This suggests that he was unlikely to ever become a regular starter for the club.
The fee of £4.22million represents a significant profit for Rangers, considering they signed Cifuentes for around £1.2 million [Sky Sports].
This demonstrates the club’s ability to make a substantial profit on a player who did not meet expectations.
The sale of Cifuentes will free up space in the squad for new signings or for younger players to step up and take their chance.
This is crucial for the Ibrox outfit as they look to strengthen their squad and compete at the highest level.
Hopefully, the club are proactive in their planning as Philippe Clement appears hellbent on a rebuild.
In other Rangers news, a club president has green-signalled the exit of a player as Gers have issued a “significant” bid to sign him.
