Unnamed US consortium now in talks to buy Everton from Moshiri - report

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has entered talks with an unnamed US consortium in a new takeover twist at Goodison Park, according to i News.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (7 June) that there is plenty of interest in acquiring the Toffees following the collapse of 777 Partners’ takeover, including from an anonymous US-based consortium group.

Moshiri has already held discussions with this group and it remains to be seen whether or not this could lead to anything further as the Blues chief continues to look for new buyers.

Has anyone completed an Everton takeover after 777 Partners deal collapsed?

Despite the suggestion from Moshiri originally that 777 Partners were the only group interested and able to take over at Goodison Park, it is clear that there is no shortage of interest in investing in the Toffees at the moment.

Following the collapse of the Miami-based investment firm’s takeover, several parties have been credited with an interest in Everton, whether that be Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor or even Sixth Street. Goodison News has, however, been informed that Textor isn’t a front-runner to buy the Toffees and never was.

Although those at the top of the club would have had you believe that it was 777 or bust, that has never been the case. Now, Moshiri just has to make sure that he sells to the right company with the club’s best interests at heart.

777 were clearly not qualified financially or morally to run Everton successfully, but they were willing to pay and that’s what really mattered to the Toffees chief. Hopefully, he actually considers the future of his club this time around.

It will be interesting to discover who forms this unnamed US consortium and whether or not their talks advance on Merseyside. Hopefully, some clarity will emerge around their identity sooner rather than later.

In other Everton news, 777 Partners are still confident that they could secure a takeover at Goodison Park
