Rangers secured progression into the next round of the Scottish League Cup with a 3-0 win against Dundee on 21 September.

It was also the first game of the season Gers played at Ibrox after it was closed for repairs over the past few months.

Cyriel Dessers scored two goals for the hosts and James Tavernier added another from the spot to seal the deal.

Here are our player ratings for the game:

Jack Butland – 7

Spared James Tavernier’s blushes at the back and shows more so why he truly is the leader on the pitch for Gers. Another stellar display between the sticks for the Englishman who’s often been let down by the players in front of him.

James Tavernier puts in a mixed performance for Rangers

James Tavernier – 6

Played an important role in Dessers scoring the first goal and then did his bit from the spot to add to the lead. However, there were a few defensive lapses from the 32-year-old, one that almost cost his side a goal. A better team would’ve punished Tavernier for this error and he’s got to cut these out as they’ve become rampant.

John Souttar – 7

Was dominant in the air and did not give a sniff to the Dundee attackers. Looked every bit the player he was before he moved to Ibrox and it remains to be seen if he can maintain this level of consistency throughout the course of the season. Even in possession, he looked ever so composed and he’s got to show these kinds of displays against tougher teams as well.

Robin Propper – 7

Had a comfortable outing in defence for Rangers and this was the game where he could showcase why the club wanted him in the summer. Was calm and composed at all times in defence and is surely growing into this role for Clement’s side.

Jefte – 8

A stellar outing for the Brazilian who seems to be getting better with each passing game for Gers. The 20-year-old offered so much going forward and showed great chemistry with Nedim Bajrami – something that Philippe Clement would’ve loved.

Dujon Sterling – 4

Not the best of games for the 24-year-old who did not look comfortable playing in midfield. There were moments in the match, he just seemed unsure about what to do. Given the demands of the role, it’s best if Clement stops playing him there.

Connor Barron – 7

Another good game from the summer signing who appears to be a first-team regular now for Clement. He does everything the manager wants from him and it was undoubtedly another performance he’d be pleased with.

Tom Lawrence – 5

Looked nervy on occasion in the final third which is not particularly impressive as many will be hoping for more from the Welshman. He also appeared to not be on the same page as the rest of his teammates in the final third on multiple occasions and he’s got to be working harder in training.

Vaclav Cerny – 6

Got into the right positions and combined well with the likes of Barron and Tavernier. There were a few questionable decisions he made, but he’s still getting used to his new teammates and Clement will certainly not be fretting about such performances.

Cyriel Dessers scores an impressive brace for Rangers

Cyriel Dessers – 9

Scored from his second good chance of the game but it was important that he got the right connection on it to put it into the back of the net. He then added another in the second half and proved why he’s got what it takes to be a reliable goal scorer for the club. Even apart from the goal, he was constantly on his toes, chasing down lost causes. An impressive outing for the Nigeria international.

Nedim Bajrami – 7

Played a stellar ball in for Dessers’ goal and showed why Clement wanted to bring him in. He did everything to show fans why he could make the left wing position his own and he also got into threatening positions to fancy chances for himself, which is refreshing.

Subs

Mohammed Diomande – 6

Hamza Igamane – 5

Ross McCausland – 4

Oscar Cortes – 5

Neraysho Kasanwirjo – 5
