Daniel Levy could soon be forced out of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

That is a statement which will likely read well to many in North London.

While it can’t be denied that Levy has helped Spurs to grow commercially, he is unlikely to win any popularity contests at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as he constantly upsets fans with various controversial decisions.

Therefore, any indications that Levy could soon leave Spurs will likely be received with open arms. However, it is hard to deny that it is Levy’s brilliance which has brought more eyeballs to North London and consequently put him at risk of Spurs exile.

As previously reported by the Mirror (28 September) Amanda Staveley is in “advanced talks” to invest in Spurs, and it has been speculated recently that any potential investment could arrive imminently.

While any initial investment is only thought to be a minority, Stan Collymore has speculated that this could open the door to a full Tottenham takeover down the line.

Collymore said (via CaughtOffside, 17 October), “I get why Spurs would be seen as a potential hostile takeover with Middle East businessman first buying a small amount of shares, then gradually buying the whole club.

“The suggestion from recent news reports were that it was 12.5 per cent for £700 million, and then the Qataris would chew off the percentages until they bought the lot.

“[…] Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy could be offered something ridiculous like £6bn to get out, and then Amanda Staveley, by putting in relatively little of her own money, will walk away with an astounding amount.”

Amanda Staveley to lead hostile takeover at Tottenham

Levy is a major shareholder in Tottenham himself. Therefore, should an eye-watering £6billion takeover take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Spurs chairman stands to benefit greatly.

However, it is the term “hostile takeover” which might worry the 62-year-old.

Levy might well be open to moving on from Tottenham in the near future. However, he will no doubt want to do it on his own terms.

Alternatively, he might have no interest in leaving his position of power at Tottenham at all and might want to continue building the club to which he has dedicated such a big part of his life.

Therefore, if he wants to avoid being exiled from Spurs against his will, he needs to be careful.

While a minority investment might not seem such a concern now, Levy needs to ensure he knows who he is getting into business with. The last thing the chairman will want is a behind-the-scenes power struggle at a club which is quite often settled in that department.

Levy has a lot of power in North London, and it is clear that he enjoys it. As a result, he needs to consider his next move very carefully, otherwise, he could see his power quickly diminish.

In other Tottenham news, the club have received positive reports in a new transfer push.
