Everton forward Neal Maupay seems to have brutally trolled James Maddison after he was dropped from England’s squad for Euro 2024.

Maupay is an extremely divisive player in the Premier League, though much of the Evertonian fanbase loves the sheer audacity of some of his on-pitch antics.

The 27-year-old spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Brentford and, during his spell at the Gtech Community Stadium, clashed with the Tottenham midfielder when the two sides faced each other.

A 3-2 victory for Spurs saw Maupay enter the scoring, rubbing salt in the wounds by doing Maddison’s famous dart celebration before a personal battle occurred between the two players, with Richarlison imitating the celebration after netting the winning goal.

That back-and-forth seems to have risen once again after Maddison was omitted from Gareth Southgate’s England squad to take to Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.

Just minutes after the midfielder posted a message to social media, stating how devastated he was to miss out, Maupay posted a photo to X of himself in front of a darts board.

Everton forward Neal Maupay splits opinion with social media post

The social media post has been met with a very mixed set of reactions, with some finding his reaction hilarious while others have slammed his unprofessionalism towards a fellow footballer.

Maupay will certainly know the feeling of missing out on Euro 2024, having not been picked for France’s squad despite a decent season under Thomas Frank, though there was already a slim chance he would be chosen.

Maddison, on the other hand, made it to the final stage and has narrowly missed out due to a subpar campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Toffees striker has not shied away from being a pantomime villain in the Premier League, though it could come back to haunt him if he chooses to mess with the wrong player next season.

In other Everton news, Robert Kraft could seek a takeover deal at Goodison Park.
