View: Rangers must get rid of 'Terrible' player after shocker v Kyiv, 'complete waste of money'

Ridvan Yilmaz was massively at fault as Rangers conceded Dynamo Kyiv’s goal in their 1-1 draw in Poland on Tuesday night.

The Turkyie international lost possession with a terrible error on the halfway line, leaving him out of position. This allowed Vladyslav Vanat the freedom to pick out a cross.

He picked out Andriy Yamolenko who was able to tap home from close range to put the Gers 1-0 down.

The left-back was lazy in getting back to help out his fellow defenders which will rub salt into the wounds for supporters watching the Champions League qualifier clash.

Yilmaz has been criticised for multiple recent performances for the Light Blues and it seems this may be the tipping point for Phillipe Clement with Herald journalist Mark McDougall calling him “terrible” and “a complete waste of money” via his personal X account (6 August).

Ridvan Yilmaz Rangers showing slammed

Losing Borna Barisic was always going to hit Rangers hard but with the 23-year-old replacing him, the overall team may suffer.

This was shown against Kyiv with the left back being at fault for a goal which could ultimately cost the Gers Champions League qualification.

It is hard to see what Yilmaz actually adds to Clement’s squad considering the lack of output defensively and going forward.

In the Premiership last season, he registered one goal and one assist despite featuring in over 1600 minutes [FotMob].

Compare that to Barisic in just 1000 minutes more, and the Croatia international has an additional eight assists [FotMob].

It is clear that the Rangers boss isn’t sure about his left back considering he brought Jefte on for Scott Right as additional defensive cover.

Moving forward into the new season, options may have to be looked into for Yilmaz’s position and a potential sale could be considered.

In other Rangers news, a club is pushing a Light Blues starter to accept an exit offer but he’s concerned over the potential reaction.
