Vincent Kompany has now asked Bayern Munich to buy £50m striker Arsenal want to sign - journalist

Newly-appointed Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has now asked his bosses to sign a striker who’s been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

Despite scoring 91 goals in the league last season, Mikel Arteta has outlined his desire to welcome a centre-forward to the Emirates.

Handing his shortlist to Edu, it seems as if the club could go in one of two directions.

Arsenal can attempt to recruit a superstar goal-scorer, someone who will directly rival Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

In that category, the club’s options perhaps look like either Alexander Isak or Victor Osimhen.

Unfortunately, the pair appear beyond Arsenal financially this summer, given the club also want to invest in other areas.

The other route for Arteta is signing a younger profile, someone who can develop into a top striker whilst initially acting as Kai Havertz’s understudy.

All of Benjamin Sesko, Joshua Zirzkee and Brian Brobbey fit the bill in that sense.

And perhaps unfortunately for Arsenal, Kompany now wants one of those three at Bayern.

Vincent Kompany wants Arsenal target Joshua Zirzkee to play alongside Harry Kane

Bologna’s 23-year-old Zirkzee is now said to be a priority signing for Kompany, who envisions the Dutchman playing alongside Harry Kane.

TBR Football recently shared Arsenal’s interest in £50m-rated Zirkzee, which would make Bayern’s involvement less than ideal.

News of Bayern’s interest comes via journalist Rudy Galetti who shared the news on X.

Galetti said that Kompany asked his Bayern bosses to consider a return for Zirkzee, who only left the club in 2022.

He shared: “Vincent Kompany has also asked Bayern to consider bringing Zirkzee back to the Bundesliga, confirmed.

“In his plans, the [Dutchman] could play as a second striker alongside Kane. The [German] club is making internal evaluations in this regard.”

Of course, given that Chelsea are now interested in beating Arsenal to Sesko, this could be a frustration.

This Arsenal set-up is adverse to involving themselves in bidding wars, which rarely results in clubs achieving good value.

But it now seems that chasing at least two of their three ‘project’ options could result in such.

And whilst there are plenty more options on the market, Arsenal are known to be a club who like to conduct their business early in the summer.

All that being said, another one Arsenal’s centre-forward options has now suggested he wouldn’t be interested in a move.
