Wenham thrilled as Tottenham ace undergoes medical ahead of brand-new loan transfer

John Wenham is delighted that Tottenham forward Manor Solomon is set to join Leeds United on loan.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes it is important that the 25-year-old plays his football in England this season.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (24 August), Solomon is undergoing a medical with Leeds ahead of completing a loan move to Elland Road.

The winger had rejected a move to La Liga side Getafe (via Fabrizio Romano, 23 August).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is pleased that the Spurs man made this decision.

“Solomon turned down that move to Getafe,” Wenham said.

“I’m pleased about that because, for me, it would be much better for him to remain in England.

“It would have been good if we could have found a Premier League team for him. However, the Championship works too. It is just important to prioritise him playing some football this season.”

Solomon has hardly kicked a ball since joining Tottenham. After a fairly positive start to his Spurs career, he picked up a long-term injury which kept him out for the majority of the 2023/24 season.

As a result, he has fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou. Therefore, a temporary move away from the club seems wise.

His lack of involvement in pre-season suggested he wouldn’t have had a big role to play in North London this season, and from Spurs’ point of view, it will be a boost to reduce the wage bill by allowing Solomon to join the Whites on loan.

As for the player’s long-term future with the club, that remains unclear.
