Wesley Fofana posts injury update message after crushing Chelsea blow

Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has taken to social media to share a fitness update after his crushing recent injury setback.

The 23-year-old was forced off in Chelsea’s 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa earlier in the season after picking up a hamstring injury.

Fofana missed the entirety of last season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in pre-season, totaling 51 games across all competitions.

The centre-back has made a sensational return under Enzo Maresca, starting all 12 of Chelsea’s Premier League games before the injury, yielding 1017 minutes of game time.

Speaking after the game, Maresca admitted Fofana is set to be out for “three, four or five weeks,” missing a total of 12 games throughout the festive period.

Chelsea have plenty of cover at the heart of defence, with Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi stepping up in their comprehensive 5-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday (December 4).

Fofana will no doubt want to get back out there as soon as possible due to the fierce competition, taking to Instagram to share an image of himself in the gym.

Chelsea have seven games left in December alone, with the trip to Ange Postecoglu’s inconsistent Tottenham side on Sunday (December 8).

Maresca has Chelsea playing some fantastic football, sitting in second, seven points behind league leaders Liverpool with 28.
